Payroll/AP Coordinator ut the role Wrlgold is seeking a dedicated Payroll/AP Coordinator to join our team in Red Lake, Ontario. This full-time position is integral to ensuring the smooth operation of our payroll and accounts payable functions. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. What you’ll do
  • Oversee the complete payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee salaries, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations regarding taxation and employee benefits.
  • Process accounts payable transactions, including invoice verification, payment processing, and vendor management.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to reconcile payroll and accounts payable accounts monthly, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and general financial matters, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and audits, ensuring all documentation is accurate and readily available.
  • Implement and maintain payroll systems and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy in payroll processing.
  • Support the onboarding process for new employees by ensuring all payroll-related documentation is completed and submitted.
  • Monitor and analyze payroll and accounts payable data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and best practices to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Participate in training and development initiatives to enhance personal and team skills in payroll and accounts payable functions.
  • Foster a positive work environment by collaborating with team members and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing and accounts payable functions.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and accounting systems; experience with [specific software used by Wrlgold, if known] is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations and compliance requirements in Canada.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with employees and vendors.
  • A degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Certification in payroll administration (e.g., PCP or CPM) is an asset.
Nice to have
  • Experience in the mining or resource sector is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with human resources processes and systems.
  • Knowledge of additional languages is a plus, enhancing communication with a diverse workforce.
  • Previous experience with financial audits or compliance reviews.
Skills & tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with payroll and accounting software, such as Quick Books, ADP, or similar platforms.
  • Strong data entry skills with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and software as needed.

  • This position is based in Red Lake, Ontario, and may require occasional travel to other company sites or locations.
