Job Overview:
The accountant is a detail-oriented and reliable person with proven experience supporting the complexities of a restaurant environment. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting day-to-day accounting functions, and providing insights that help drive operational and financial performance. The ideal candidate understands the unique accounting needs of restaurant environments, including high-volume transactions, inventory and cost of goods tracking, and payroll/labor cost compliance.
Organization:Rondo Community Land Trust (CLT) is a community-based affordable housing land trust that works to create and preserve permanently affordable home ownership for low- to moderate-income households in Saint Paul and Ramsey County, Minnesota. Rondo CLT’s development activities include acquisition, rehabilitation, and construction of affordable housing, asset management of land trust holdings, and economic development through Commercial Land Trusts.
The organization is active in community development, research, and policy initiatives and operates ancillary businesses, including the for-profit restaurant Golden Thyme, as part of its social enterprise strategy.

Primary Responsibilities:General Accounting and Reporting:
- Maintain general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, including profit and loss (P&L) reports, in compliance with GAAP
- Support annual audits and tax filings by preparing schedules and documentation
- Reconcile and analyze daily sales, cash and credit card transactions, and POS data
- Manage inventory accounting, including food, beverage, and supplies
- Track cost of goods sold (COGS) and margin variances for restaurant operations
- Support accounting for tips, service charges, and labor cost reporting
- Support budgeting and forecasting
- Identify opportunities to improve financial controls and processes
- Process invoices, manage payment schedules, and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain vendor relationship and ensure timely payments
- Support accounts receivables functions as needed
- Partner with payroll providers for accurate processing
- Assist with labor cost reporting and compliance with wage/tip regulations
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience with demonstrated restaurant or hospitality accounting exposure
- Strong understanding of restaurant financial metrics (COGS, labor ratios, margins)
- Proficiency with accounting software and POS systems (Toast and Quickbooks)
- Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of Minnesota and federal payroll/labor regulations, strongly preferred
