The Accounting Assistant provides day-to-day accounting and administrative support to the local Operations Manager. This role is responsible for processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, supporting billing and collections activities, and assisting with other daily accounting functions. The ideal candidate is organized, detail oriented, and able to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
EssentialFunctions
- Process accounts payable transactions, including invoice coding, vouching, and accurately entering accounting data.
- Process accounts receivable transactions, including billing, cash receipt application, and accurately entering accounting data.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of accounting information used in financial reports.
- Prepare and upload payment files through designated payment systems.
- Reconcile customer, vendor, and general ledger accounts and resolve routine discrepancies.
- Prepare checks and assist with check processing.
- Support collections activities by following up on outstanding customer balances.
- Maintain organized paper and electronic accounting records.
- Utilize ASI Profit Maker, Microsoft Excel, and other office software to process and maintain accounting information.
- Provide accounting and administrative support to the Operations Manager as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred.
- One to three years of accounting, bookkeeping, or accounting support experience preferred.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Experience with accounting software; experience with ASI Profit Maker is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Hourly, onsite position located in our Minnesota office (7160 4th St N, St Paul, MN 55128)
- Work is performed in a professional office environment with frequent use of paper documentation and standard office equipment.
- Regular use of computers, printers, scanners, telephones, and filing systems.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and move files, office supplies, or boxes weighing up to 20 pounds.
