Position Summary:
The Department of Anthropology in the College of Liberal Arts occasionally hires part‑time, temporary short‑term employees (Temporary/Casual, Job Code 0001) to provide a broad range of administrative or research support, as assigned and in consultation with supervisors, center directors and program coordinators.
These are part‑time temporary or casual positions. Temporary positions are limited to working up to 67 days in a calendar year. Casual positions can work up to 14 hours each week; and are not limited to 67 days of work in a calendar year.
This posting does not constitute an announcement of open positions but is used to establish a pool of applicants should openings occur during academic year 2026/27 and summer 2026. Applications will not be acknowledged upon receipt and will only be reviewed should openings occur. Appointments may be extended based on need, funding, and satisfactory performance.
Job Responsibilities- Administrative support, assisting with webpage updates, preparing documents and PowerPoint presentations, assisting assigned faculty with research projects, collecting, analyzing, and/or coding data, compiling and/or creating reports, designing and/or conducting experiments or surveys, recruiting participants as needed, and helping prepare faculty member’s presentations for conferences, talks, or similar events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED equivalency.
- Relevant skills and experience that relate to the temporary position we need to fill. This could include any of the following areas of expertise: administration, communications, community engagement, event support and logistics, technology support and training, and research.
- Excellent computer skills in Google and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience as well as completion of prior coursework in anthropology.
- Previous experience working for the department.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include proofreading, spelling, and grammar.
- Proven ability to work independently.
- Excellent organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced work environment.
- Prior experience with electronic calendaring.
Pay Range: $15.25 to $20.00 per hour; depending on education, qualifications, or experience.
