This position exists to provide support to the staff of the X-ray Unit and other units in the Indoor Environments and Radiation (IER) section within the Environmental Health Division in the Minnesota Department of Health. This position will also provide operational support to the Environmental Health (EH) Director's Office when requested.
Primary Responsibilities:
A. Support the Indoor Environments and Radiation Section Manager and other section supervisors.
B. Oversee activities related to financial transactions involved with core functions of X-ray Unit/IER including payment processing, collection, and account reconciliation.
C. Provide operational support to the X-ray Unit to assure that the program's objectives meet expected quality outcomes and performance metrics.
D. Complete and send out inspections' enforcement and registration actions.
E. Process fees for the X-ray Unit and IER section so that documents are issued in compliance with the Minnesota Department of Health and internal audit policies and procedures.
This position is temporary in nature, with an anticipated end date of March 1, 2027.
This position will report to the Freeman Building Office in St. Paul, MN, Monday through Friday.
Minimum Qualifications
One (1) year of experience providing administrative support to a public health, environmental health or other closely related program. Experience must include the following:
- Experience and skill in word processing, typing and proofreading sufficient to develop or modify a variety of correspondence, records and reports.
- Experience and skill in customer service sufficient to provide prompt, courteous, and accurate information to a variety of customers over the phone, in person and via email.
- Experience in data entry sufficient to create database records and update entries in a timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, Departments Records Management policies and procedures and MDH procedures.
- Knowledge of various regulatory data systems.
- Ability to receive and react to changes in priorities and be able to implement those changes into daily schedules and routine.
Additional Requirements
- This employment does not require a valid driver's license, but it does demand travel, which the candidate will be responsible for meeting.
- This position requires successful completion of a background check and employment reference check.
