Position: Superintendent I - BLUvera - Fridley MN

Superintendent I and II

This is a start‑up opportunity at a new manufacturing plant in Fridley, MN for Mortenson's sister company, BLUvera. We are looking for a leader to build out the team and work stations. Candidates that will be considered are self‑driven, not a micro‑manager, able to think on the fly, and creative. Candidates with a construction and leadership background will be given priority for interviews, and if you have a manufacturing/assembly background, that’s a plus.

This position offers opportunities at both level 1 and level 2, allowing candidates to apply based on their experience and qualifications. Compensation for this role is determined based on factors such as experience and location. The base pay range is $111,400–$167,100 for Level 1 and $131,100–$195,200 for Level 2 (higher for Denver, CO; Chicago, IL; Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Washington, D.C.).

Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement activities to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule.
  • Review construction documents for completeness and constructability, understand contract documents, and coordinate plans with design engineers.
  • Develop and manage the project schedule, site logistics plan, and utilize tools and equipment while collaborating with project partner superintendents.
  • Coach, supervise, and develop team members; conduct orientations, planning sessions, site meetings, and supervise project partners, including interview, hire, transfer, or dismiss team members.
  • Ensure proper task coding, lead and track work progress, handle team member training, and conduct career development discussions.
  • Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
  • Lead by example, offer coaching and feedback, and manage performance.
  • Provide high‑level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance; recognize and mitigate unfavorable conditions and seek process improvements.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management, OR 10 years of trade experience.
  • Current driver’s license.
  • Ability to fulfill development through closeout responsibilities for multiple, complex projects.
  • Detail‑oriented and able to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
  • Basic understanding of construction law and business practices.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
  • Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate company policies.
  • Effective communication and active listening skills; openness to diverse input and feedback; ability to travel up to 100%.

  • Minimum 5 years construction management or related experience for Superintendent I; minimum 8 years for Superintendent II.
  • Must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status.
  • Must be willing to work in Fridley, MN, Monday‑Friday, minimum 7 a.m.‑3:30 p.m.
