Mechanical Construction Executive

Diamond Peak Recruiting is partnering with a well‑established mechanical contractor to identify an experienced Mechanical Construction Executive to lead project operations, financial performance, and strategic growth for a major business unit in the Salt Lake City market.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an accomplished operations leader with a strong background in commercial and industrial mechanical construction. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience overseeing project management teams, driving operational excellence, developing client relationships, and leading large mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

Position Overview

The Mechanical Construction Executive will provide executive oversight for project operations, team leadership, financial performance, and business development. This individual will work closely with executive leadership to establish operational strategy, mentor project teams, expand key client relationships, and ensure successful delivery of large HVAC, piping, and plumbing projects.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and oversight for Project Managers, Project Engineers, and operational staff
  • Oversee large commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Monitor project financial performance, forecasting, profitability, and risk management
  • Lead project review meetings and provide coaching to project teams on execution and financial performance
  • Support preconstruction efforts including budgeting, estimating, constructability reviews, and project planning
  • Develop and maintain relationships with owners, general contractors, engineers, and key industry partners
  • Identify new business opportunities and support strategic growth initiatives
  • Mentor and develop project management staff while building high‑performing teams
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on workforce planning, staffing, and operational strategy
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout all phases of project delivery
  • Assist with contract negotiations, change management, procurement strategy, and project planning
  • Drive continuous improvement across project execution, operational processes, and client satisfaction
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical construction project management or operations leadership
  • Strong background overseeing large HVAC, piping, and plumbing construction projects
  • Experience leading Project Managers and construction operations teams
  • Demonstrated success managing project financials, forecasting, budgeting, and profitability
  • Strong client relationship management and business development experience
  • Experience with preconstruction, estimating, and project planning
  • Thorough understanding of mechanical construction contracts, scheduling, procurement, and risk management
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
