Pastoral Associate Music

Responsibilities

• Oversee Wednesday adult choir rehearsals, including preparation time.
• Schedule musicians on a monthly/seasonal basis.
• Work with ASL (sign language) on music texts.
• Utilize parish talent pool and develop cantors, instrumentalists, and choir members.
• Develop and coordinate music ministry training schedules (cantors, choirs, and others).
• Plan long-range repertoire by reading and reflecting on Sunday and seasonal scriptures.
• Keep up to date on music resources.
• Plan and oversee weekly rehearsals with the choir and cantors.
• Oversee funeral and wedding music.
• Provide liturgical music education to all musicians.
• Coordinate copyright responsibilities with the Pastoral Assistant for Liturgy.
• Member of the Parish Staff Team.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings.
• Budgeting and financial oversight for the Music Ministry area.
• Familiarity with the Gather 4 hymnal.
• Involve the bell choir when possible.
• Hire outside musicians when appropriate.
• Schedule seasonal piano tuning, oversee musical instrument and audio equipment repair.
