Community Center Coordinator
The City of Shoreview is now hiring a full-time Community Center Coordinator to work in our active Fitness & Community Center. We serve over 500,000 visitors a year in our multi-functional facility. This position is key to providing quality service to a wide variety of customers through our fitness center and banquet/meeting room facilities. The purpose of this position is to assist with the everyday management of the facility.
DutiesInclude
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Community Center including service desk, concessions, fitness center, memberships, rentals, and customer service. (Pool is managed by other staff.)
- Provide information and assistance to guests and staff including membership information, rates, programs, and resolving problems and complaints.
- Work with rental events such as weddings, corporate events, receptions, dinners, and birthday parties; market facility by providing tours, pricing & amenity information to potential clients; provide customer service including room & equipment set-ups, assuring fulfillment of contract terms, collecting final payments, resolving event problems, and reviewing rooms/kitchen for damage after events.
- Leading, scheduling and supervising part-time Community Center staff.
- Perform daily building inspection walk-throughs and inventory checks.
- Write daily work reports, maintain work records, balance cash drawers, and other administrative functions.
- Perform in accordance with appropriate safety & security procedures.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Note:
This position requires regular and reliable attendance, the ability to concentrate and manage multiple priorities with frequent interruptions, attention to detail and organization, ability to use initiative and exercise good judgment, strong written and verbal communication skills, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work well with others.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6 months managerial experience
- 1 year supervisory experience
- Ability to lift and move 50 pounds
- 1 year customer service experience
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle report
Desired Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in Sports Facilities Management, Business Management, or closely related field
- Additional managerial experience, including experience in a health club, fitness center, community center w/fitness facilities or YMCA
- Additional supervisory experience
- Additional customer service experience
- Banquet/facility rental experience
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications

Hiring Wage Range: $27.17 - $29.95 per hour depending on experience. (2026 full wage range: $27.17 - $36.27 per hour)

Supervision of Others: Yes, associate employees.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, use hands and fingers dexterously, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move throughout the facility in the performance of the job. The employee will be required to lift, carry, push, and pull supplies, equipment, furniture, and other objects weighing up to 50 pounds, particularly when assisting with event and room setups.
The physical and environmental hazards and risks associated with the job can be characterized as moderate due to the physical nature of the work, frequent interaction with the public, movement throughout the facility, and potential exposure to crowded, noisy, or active recreational and event areas.
