OVERVIEW
JOB TITLE:
United World College (UWC) Intern
LOCATION(S):
St. Paul Campus
PAY RATE: $16.50 per hour
HOURS:
10hr/week
The position of United World College (UWC) Intern will focus on creating and maintaining an active community for the audience that OISS serves- primarily incoming UWC students, current Davis Scholars, and the UWC Advisory Board.
Payment is biweekly. Position offers opportunities for professional development in the field of international education.
New lead will undergo training by OISS team. Will be closely supervised by OISS team, specifically international admissions.
Duties and responsibilities include:
* Contribute to International Admissions initiatives specific to UWC campsuses and prospective Davis Scholars
* Frequently communicate with UWC Advisor Board, Director of Internatioanl Admissions, UWC Liaison, and International Student Amabassador program leads to ensure that tasks/projects are completed as intended.
* Assist in leading UWC advisory board and its initiatives including, but not limited to,
* Facilitate onboarding and off-boarding of advisory board members
* Organize the nomination of any future Board members
* Develop, design, and implement promotional strategies and content for admissions and programming purposes. Assist social media intern with producing content for current and prospective students (student testimonials, social media takeovers, life in the US, alumni videos, etc.).
* Support the programming team as needed.
* Other duties as assigned. This could include assisting the OISS team with running Fall/Spring international student orientation and an international orientation leader. Must be physically present on campus and available for Fall/Spring international student orientation.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Openness to engaging and learning about cultural differences, intercultural communication, and issues of culture conflict. Ability to work successfully with a variety of individuals from various socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
* Excellent participation, attitude, and reliability in a small teamwork setting.
* Communication skills:
Whats App, Microsoft Teams, email, public speaking, interpersonal. Reliable communication is vital to this team.
− Leadership
Skills:
serving as a role model for the international student ambassadors, student body, prospective students, OISS staff, and other departments mas.
− Social Media skills.
− Strong attention to detail.
− Willingness to own mistakes, accept constructive feedback, learn from mistakes, and attempt resolving them.
− Ability to work independently.
− Ability to work on several projects simultaneously, balance priorities, and meet deadlines.
− Ability to maintain student confidentiality.
− Student programming planning and management, supporting International Admissions functions, social media outreach campaigns.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience living abroad and/or experience working with international students
* Experience with student leadership roles
* Experience as a UWC student
