MSUAASF Range C - Career Counselor

Metro State University, Minnesota's public, urban university and four‑time recipient of the Insight into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award, is seeking to hire a Career Counselor. This full‑time/probationary position is within the Career Center.

• Provide individual and group career counseling and conduct presentations on topics such as major and career decisions, internship and job search, resume, cover letter and interview preparation to aid in retention.
• Assist with outreach to the university community by representing the Career Center.
• Coordinate projects, including collecting and analyzing data for the department.

This is an MSUAASF Range C position with a salary range of $47,607 (minimum) to $93,342 (maximum). Salary is commensurate with education and experience and is determined by the collective bargaining agreement between Minnesota State Colleges and Universities and the MSUAASF organization.

• Bachelor's degree plus three years of career development professional experience in business, nonprofit, or higher education.
• Experience serving a student population with diverse cultural backgrounds, academic interests and goals (e.g., ex‑offenders, students with disabilities, international students).
• Experience in data collection and analysis.
• Demonstrated strong intercultural and interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
• Experience working collaboratively to execute team goals as team lead and contributing partner.

• Master's degree plus one year of career development professional experience in business, nonprofit, or higher education, or a related field.
• Experience with career tools such as Handshake.

Requires occasionally lifting or carrying items such as file folders, ledgers, and small tools. The role involves some walking and standing in addition to sitting.

8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
