Job Summary

The Admissions Recruitment Assistant supports Luther Seminary’s mission of “educating leaders for Christian communities” by assisting the Admissions Office with recruitment of qualified applicants to the seminary’s programs, primarily for graduate certificate and master’s degree programs and secondarily for non‑degree offerings. The role involves developing recruitment resources, staffing events, traveling for off‑campus outreach, and serving as an initial point of contact for discerning students, welcoming them with openness and hospitality into a space of prayerful listening and conversation regarding vocation and discernment.

Essential

Functions Recruitment
  • Assist recruitment and welcome efforts of the Admissions Team to help achieve enrollment goals.
  • Staff off‑campus recruitment and outreach visits connecting with discerning students and influencers across faith communities, colleges, universities, ministries, fairs, conferences, and non‑profits.
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for prospective students, providing introductory information and connecting them with staff and faculty for further conversation.
  • Assist with admissions events, including virtual and in‑person campus visits, discernment events, open houses, high‑school previews, camp fairs, and other recruitment‑related events.
  • Create multimedia resources for recruitment, including print, digital, video, and social media content.
  • Travel as needed and work occasional evenings and weekends.
Admissions General
  • Accompany discerning students with integrity and grace, advising them on program fit, admissions requirements, application process, financial aid, residential life, and spiritual formation resources.
  • Communicate proactively with students through phone, written, digital, virtual, and face‑to‑face contact, professionally representing Luther Seminary’s programs in a manner consistent with its mission, vision, and values.
  • Maintain admissions records and accurately track all student communications in the database, ensuring data confidentiality.
Other Duties/Responsibilities
  • Support a campus culture where diversity is valued and inclusion is encouraged.
  • Represent Luther Seminary positively to prospective, former, and current students, ministry partners, and the community.
  • Execute administrative tasks, including travel reports, spending tracking, data coding, and other duties as needed.
  • Attend meetings—check‑ins with supervisor (monthly), Enrollment Team meetings (weekly), and additional meetings as required.
  • Perform additional functions as assigned.
Qualifications Understanding, Commitment to Mission

Demonstrated understanding and commitment to Luther Seminary’s Mission, Vision, Welcome Statement, and ABIDE framework (Accountability, Belonging, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity).

Required

Education and Experience
  • 1–2 years of experience in admissions/recruitment, higher education, and/or ministry/non‑profit organization.
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Master’s Degree in a theological field from a seminary or divinity school.
  • Preferred recent alum of Luther Seminary.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Communication
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and/or preaching.
