The Science Museum of Minnesota is currently seeking a committed, passionate Positive Behavior Intervention Specialist, who holds a belief in the ability of our scholars, to join our team for the 2026 STEM Freedom School Summer Program. The Positive Behavior Intervention Specialist will be responsible for setting standards and laying a foundation of academic and classroom success for scholars by providing high-quality, relevant instruction to scholars and staff to promote a positive learning environment.
This position provides research based targeted intervention in areas of behavior and social emotional learning.
1. Communication: Expresses oneself clearly in conversations and interactions with others and ensures that information is shared with others who should be informed.

Develops, maintains, and strengthens partnerships with others inside or outside the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support.
3. Customer Service: Demonstrates an understanding of the SMM mission by ensuring that their own interactions with internal and external customers consistently support the mission.
4. Fostering an Inclusive Community: Contributes to a museum environment, and people, that reflect and respond to the diverse needs and cultures of our community (internal and external).
5. Results Orientation: Focuses on providing a best in class visitor experience through work outcomes by meeting personal and organizational work objectives.
Minimum QualificationsEducation: Experience and training in crisis interventions. Crisis intervention and prevention training.
Experience: Experience in conflict resolution strategies and a variety of discipline strategies. Ability to assist in writing Functional Behavioral Assessments, Proactive Behavior Plans, and Behavior Intervention Plans. Experience in communicating behavior management techniques. Experience working with IEP teams.
The hourly rate is $25.00/hr.
