Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is hiring Summer Camp Instructors.Summer Camp Instructors lead engaging, hands-on learning experiences in one of Saint Paul’s most unique environments. Instructors bring camp curriculum to life while creating a safe, structured, and fun space for campers to explore the zoo and conservatory.
Information specific to this position:
- Dates: June 8 – August 21, 2026 (minimum three-week commitment required)
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 32 hours per week
Required training dates: May 16–17, 2026 or May 30–31, 2026 (Some scheduling flexibility available)
- Training Stipend: $300
Here's what you can expect to do:
- Prepare and teach assigned camp curriculum
- Deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences
- Ensure safety, quality, and consistency in all camp activities
- Manage classroom and outdoor learning environments throughout the zoo and conservatory
- Build positive relationships with campers, families, and volunteer assistants
- Adapt curriculum creatively and problem-solve in real time
Position Requirements
Teaching license or equivalent credentials
Minimum of 1 year of classroom experience with PreK–6th grade
Ability to lift 50 lbs
CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred)
