Summary

The Certificate in Election Administration (CEA) program at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs seeks a highly motivated, energetic, and results-oriented Student Recruitment Manager. This position is responsible for student recruitment and admission activities for the CEA program, one of the largest election administration training programs in the country. This position works directly with prospective students as well as student recruitment networks (including student advisors, career counselors, and professional associations) to build interest and enrollment in the CEA program.

This position will also coordinate career development services for current CEA students.

Responsibilities Student Recruitment and Engagement (60%)
  • Recruit prospective students interested in the CEA program
  • Coordinate and deliver information sessions (online and in person)
  • Provide information and guidance throughout the application and enrollment process
  • Establish and implement relationship‑building efforts with student recruitment and career networks (including career counselors, student advisors, and others)
  • Evaluate academic and other credentials (for counseling purposes and to assist with admissions decisions)
  • Coordinate the CEA scholarship program
  • Facilitate enrollment of incoming students
Student Advising (10%)
  • Provide program advising support for current CEA students
  • Coordinate career development engagement opportunities for CEA students and alumni
Communications (10%)
  • Assist with the development and implementation of communication plans for CEA student recruitment efforts
  • Assist with the development of print and web‑based content for use in recruitment and retention, e.g., program one‑pager/brochure, CEA web page
  • Manage CEA program social media content
  • Create and maintain a database of CEA student success stories and regularly solicit contributions to the database from current students, alumni, faculty, advisers, and staff
Program Strategy and Evaluation / Research / Collaboration (20%)
  • Assist with the design and creation of innovative programmatic activities to support recruitment, outreach, and engagement strategies
  • Track, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of CEA activities designed to enhance student recruitment, outreach, and engagement
  • Monitor trends in higher education recruitment and communications in the media
  • Liaise and collaborate with other Humphrey School teams (Admissions, Career and Student Success), as well as other UMN colleges and programs
  • Attend and participate in All Staff, Steering, and Unit meetings, ongoing training, and collegiate events
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ years of work experience in higher education, in the area(s) of student recruitment, student or career advising, communications, or related area
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Interest in politics and governance
  • Knowledge of student recruitment cycles, strategies, and networks
  • Experience writing and editing (marketing or otherwise) for a variety of audiences
  • Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce or Slate preferred) and social media tools
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations
  • Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in practice
  • Proven ability to collaborate as a team member and also work independently
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects while thinking broadly and creatively
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends (occasionally; as needed)
  • Ability to travel to professional conferences (occasionally; as needed)
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $53,000 - $59,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment

Position Type: Faculty and P&A Staff
