Assistant Center Education Coordinator - Part Year
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Center Education Coordinator at the site, this management position is responsible for oversight and assisting in the implementation of effective services to children and families in the Head Start program. Duties include assisting in the responsibilities for Center operations, policies and procedures, acting as a liaison with parents, staff, internal and external collaborative partners, coordinating day-to-day classroom substitute staffing, and oversight of educational support staff and activities.
This position may require teaching in the classroom, or in the role of any open position.

Essential Functions (Not All Inclusive):
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for supporting Center Education Coordinators with the supervision of center staff, and facilitating internal and external collaborative partners' involvement to ensure classrooms and center are functioning in accordance with Minnesota Department of Human Services Division of Licensing (Rule 3-Regulations and Guidelines), Head Start Performance Standards, Parent Aware (MN QRIS), and the Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines (CACFP).
- Responsible for supporting the day-to-day center operations.
- Duties include assisting in supporting operating policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all state, federal and program regulations and requirements.
- Responsible for appropriate behavior guidance and mandated reporting and compliance.
- Ensure that all necessary documentation and reporting requirements are met.
- Assist in administering a system to assess center's equipment, supply and ground/building maintenance needs and ensure compliance with DHS-Rule 3 Regulations and Head Start Performance Standards.
- Mentor, coach and provide work direction for assigned staff.
- Assist in overseeing work schedules to ensure proper ratios and workloads are managed appropriately.
- Utilize the agency's performance management system to provide meaningful performance feedback to assigned staff.
- Work closely with staff to establish customized job-related goals and professional development plans.
- Monitor goals and plans throughout the performance period.
- Responsible for ensuring and promoting Parental involvement in all aspects of the Head Start Program.
- Ensure implementation of curriculum in compliance with established program criteria, and child assessment outcomes are documented and tracked utilizing program database.
- Monitor compliance and follow up in completing the required Home Visits, Center Orientation, Parent Teacher conference, Attendance and Child Individual Goals.
- Ensure staff have entered all required data into the program's database.
- Ensure the full implementation of approved curricula through direct service by completing Fidelity checklist on all classrooms, monitoring lesson plans which include goals to achieve measurable outcomes in each curriculum area and Individual Learning Plans (ILP).
- Monitor child observations and documentation, screening/assessments, and support of ILPs and Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Complete and monitor Child Goal Analysis. Follow up as needed.
- Monitor and assist with the Transition Plans for all children in the Head Start program. Plans include children moving from Early Head Start to Head Start, center to center and Head Start to kindergarten.
- Attends and participates in Agency meetings, training sessions, or other activities as assigned.
- Assist in compliance with ERSEA (Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment and Attendance).
- Assist in all licensing requirements.
- Represent the program as an advocate for children and families.
- Safety:
Responsible for conducting all duties in a safe manner.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education. One-year supervisory experience required. Two years of experience teaching in an early childhood setting required. Previous Head Start experience preferred.

Must be flexible and a team player.
Must be available to work a flexible schedule with some evening hours. Must be proficient is using a computer including Microsoft for Windows or similar, e-mail and internet.
