Position: Adjunct Middle School Physical Education Teacher

Position Begins: August 2026

Status: Part-time, .40 PTE, Exempt

Department: Instructional Faculty, Middle School

Salary: $24,000 a year

The Physical Health and Wellness teacher position delivers high-quality physical and health/wellness education to middle school students.

Our physical education classes are centered around wellness topics and activities designed to promote students’ physical and emotional health and well-being. Students explore various topics that promote a healthy sense of self and a positive approach to fitness, nutrition, and healthy habits. Middle school courses address the construction and implementation of goal setting as it relates to overall physical and mental well-being.

• Bachelor’s degree in physical education and/or health education or related fields.
• Experience working with middle school students as a teacher and coach.
• Understanding of the developmental needs of young adolescents and ability to support a program that emphasizes self-reflection, empathy, teamwork, and flexibility.
• Capability to operate effectively in diverse environments and employ culturally responsive pedagogy to create an inclusive and equitable classroom community.
• Ability to create developmentally appropriate curricula.
• Ability to establish a supportive and engaging classroom environment for students.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents/guardians.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, students, and families.
• Ability to advise students effectively and otherwise contribute to the life of the school outside the classroom.

Additional certifications, including CPR/AED training, yoga, and outdoor education, are encouraged.
