Overview
Saint Paul Public Schools is hiring Music Therapists for the school year. Music Therapists in Saint Paul Schools provide prep coverage for teachers. This means that the Music Therapist is the teacher for each group of students they see throughout the day, while the teacher completes paperwork, evaluations or other daily duties. Groups vary from 25-50 minutes in length.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree
- Certified by the Board for Music Therapist (MT-BC)
- Strong Behavior Management Skills
Skills And Abilities
- Basic knowledge of EBD, Autism, DCD, LD and other special education populations
- Ability to interact with children of diverse learning styles and backgrounds
- Ability to work with a variety of educators and administrators
- Assess the emotional well-being, physical health, social functioning, communication abilities, and cognitive skills of students through musical responses.
- Design music sessions for students based on needs using such techniques as music improvisation, receptive music listening, song writing, lyric discussion, music and imagery, music performance, and learning through music.
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning, ongoing evaluation, and follow up.
This is a 10 month position working 40 hours per week.
Pay range for this position is: $48,015 - $109,398
Maximum hiring step = step twenty (20)

- Unofficial transcripts are accepted at the time of hire. You must submit official transcripts within 30 days of your start date. Formal credential evaluation is required for post-secondary education completed outside of the United States.
Veteran's Preference

Criminal Background Investigation and Reference Checks
- Reference checks and a criminal background investigation will be completed as a condition of hire for all new employees and for former employees who have not been employed by the District for more than six months.

- May be exposed to various cleaning products.
