The Tutoring & Learning Center herine University invites applications for a full-time Coordinator of theMath & Science Center position.
The Coordinator of the Math & Science Center is responsible for overseeing and coordinating academic support in math and science for undergraduate and graduate students. In coordination with the Writing & Reading Center and Library & Archives, the Coordinator will help deliver holistic academic support. The Coordinator will do this through managing the day-to-day operations of the center; recruiting, training, supervising and evaluating math and science peer tutors;
and developing programming and resources to promote and support math and science learning,engagement, and success.
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise student assistants, including peer tutors, embedded tutors, and departmental peer mentors. Coordinate with faculty regarding embedded tutoring services.
- Establish tutoring schedules in alignment with the university'scourse schedule to ensure the appropriate availability of student support.
- Monitor Tutoring & Learning Center email and phone,fielding student and faculty questions and when needed and forwarding to the appropriate team members.
- Serve as the Tutoring & Learning Center's lead scheduling system administrator.
- Develop and implement a marketing and outreach strategy forpeer tutoring.
- Regularly evaluate the processes, procedures, and services for continuous improvement of academic support and department efficiency.
- Integrate the use of AI into tutoring and department processes.
- Oversee the collection and analysis of utilization and satisfaction data.
- Develop and coordinate study groups, workshops, embedded tutoring, and other academic support resources and services on mathand science academic skills, collaborating with faculty to determine scope of co-curricular programming.
- Coordinate the embedded tutoring program, including faculty outreach, tutor placement, scheduling, and ongoing communication with instructional staff.
- Develop and maintain online resources for math and science learning available at a distance and asynchronously.
- Update and maintain select web content and digital resources related to Tutoring Services, ensuring information is current and accessible.
- Work with Teaching Hub and other academic affairs staff and faculty to deliver faculty development on topics pertinent tostudent success in math and science (including health sciences) courses.
- Maintain current working knowledge of developments in the fieldof tutoring services.
- Participate in professional development through professional organizations, webinars, and conferences.
- Represent the department at university events to promote tutorial services.
- Attend meetings and other committees as appropriate or as requested.
- Act as a liaison between the Tutoring & Learning Center and faculty.
- Partner creatively with faculty, staff, and other academic support units, including within the library, to offer programming and solutions to meet student needs and to promote Tutoring &Learning Center services.
