Position SummaryTwin Cities German Immersion School (TCGIS) is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and collaborative 5th Grade Math/English Language Arts and 6th Grade English Language Arts Teacher for a 1.0 FTE position.
The teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing high-quality instruction in 5th grade mathematics and English Language Arts and 6th grade English Language Arts
, supporting students with diverse learning needs and backgrounds, and contributing to a positive and inclusive school community. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues, communicate effectively with families, and support student growth and achievement in alignment with TCGIS policies, mission, vision, values, and strategic goals.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Learning- Plan and implement engaging, standards-aligned instruction in 5th grade mathematics and English Language Arts and 6th grade English Language Arts.
- Create a structured, positive, and inspiring classroom environment where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and assessment practices to meet the needs of students with diverse backgrounds, learning styles, abilities, and learning needs.
- Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate support and challenge to promote academic growth for all students.
- Monitor student progress and use assessment data to inform instruction, intervention, enrichment, and instructional planning.
- Establish clear learning expectations and classroom routines that support student independence, collaboration, and academic success.
- Support students in developing strong mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, communication, reading, writing, and critical-thinking skills.
- Develop and maintain effective instructional plans aligned with Minnesota Academic Standards and TCGIS curriculum expectations.
- Participate in ongoing curriculum development and collaborate with colleagues to assess and address changing curricular needs.
- Maintain accurate and timely student records, grades, assessments, and other required documentation.
- Use formative and summative assessment data to identify student needs and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Collaborate with grade-level, content-area, student support, and other colleagues to enhance the instructional environment and support student success.
- Establish and maintain positive, respectful, and cooperative relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the broader school community.
- Communicate effectively and regularly, both orally and in writing, with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- Participate actively in team meetings, school events, professional learning, and other collaborative responsibilities.
- Contribute to a structured, positive, inclusive, and inspiring school culture.
- Foster a classroom culture grounded in equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging, and respect for multiple perspectives.
