Repair Technician II

This is a remote, hourly position requiring 100% travel across the Midwest region. With overtime, travel, and supplemental earnings, MCE Technicians have the potential to earn over $100,000 per year. As a Major Component Exchange/Repair Technician, you’ll be at the forefront of specialized wind turbine repair and optimization. Traveling to sites across the region, you’ll lead or support major component exchanges—ensuring minimal downtime and peak turbine performance. Your previous experience in wind energy will bring precision and expertise to every gearbox, generator, and retrofit you touch.

• Ensure safety for everyone involved: conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, use appropriate gear, follow protocols, and maintain a safe environment.
• Perform major component exchanges including gearboxes, generators, and other critical systems.
• Execute maintenance, minor to medium repairs, design modifications, retrofits, and special projects—all following established procedures.
• Travel extensively to support turbine operations across multiple platforms and site conditions.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work.
• Conduct safety inspections and continually secure the working environment.

• Prioritize safety above all else: follow protocols, proactively identify hazards, and prevent incidents.
• Preferred wind turbine experience with hands‑on MCE work.
• Minimum one year of wind technician experience, or six months with a Wind Technician certificate/education, or two years of transferable mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic experience.
• Proven expertise in troubleshooting and executing major repairs on various platforms.
• Comfortable with 100% travel and working in varied site conditions.
• A collaborative technician who thrives on solving complex challenges.
• Physically fit, comfortable working in various conditions, and at heights.
• Ability to speak, read, and follow instructions in English.
• High school diploma (or equivalent), valid driver’s license, and legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

The base pay salary range is $27.43–$33.43 per hour, with potential for additional variable compensation. Pay will be determined based on experience and qualifications.

• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
• Hearing ability to use telephones, close‑range radios or related devices.
• Visual acuity, including depth perception and color discrimination.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl as needed; manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination.
• Ability to climb stairs and vertical ladders to heights of 60–100 meters and sometimes supervise work in confined spaces.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry items up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to observe training and obtain certifications in required safety programs (LOTO, Electrical Qualification, Fall Arrest & High Angle Rescue & Emergency Descent, Confined Space).
• Ability to participate in all training courses, including controlled descent practical exercises.
• Combined weight of prospective employee, PPE and gear shall not exceed 300 lbs.; PPE and gear may weigh up to 40 lbs.
