DESIGN

INTEGRATION EXECUTIVE

The Design Integration Executive serves as a bridge between design and construction, overseeing the integration of architectural, engineering, and construction disciplines on design-build projects. This role ensures that design intent aligns with constructability, budget, schedule, and client expectations. Acting as a key liaison with the client, the Design Integration Executive leads collaboration across diverse teams, mitigates risks, and drives innovative, cost-effective solutions that deliver high-quality, fully integrated projects.

This position requires a unique balance of technical expertise, leadership, and client management skills, blending the perspectives of architect, contractor, and client advocate.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in CM@R, Design-Build, Integrated Project Delivery, or similar project delivery methods.
  • Strong understanding of architectural, structural, MEP, and civil design processes, construction means and methods, building systems, and project execution.
  • Proven experience managing interdisciplinary project teams (design and construction).
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, permitting processes, and design-build contracts.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

Preferred:

  • DBIA (Design-Build Institute of America) Certification or equivalent.
  • Professional licensure in architecture, engineering, or construction (RA, PE, or PMP).
  • Experience in multiple markets (Federal, commercial, healthcare, industrial, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Lean Construction and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) methodologies.
  • Familiarity with insurance, bonding, and contractual/legal frameworks in design-build delivery.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, LEED, or relevant construction management credentials.

  • 2+ years of related experience, including experience with self-perform capabilities
  • Demonstrated experience building strong partnerships and trust with external partners, including owners, owner's representatives, design firms, and subcontractors

  • Balances attention to detail with strategic foresight, ensuring both precision and big-picture alignment.
  • Able to manage competing priorities across design and construction phases through proactive planning and structured decision-making.
  • Self-directed leader with strong ownership mindset and ability to navigate ambiguity in complex projects.
  • Exceptional communicator who can influence, facilitate, and negotiate effectively at executive and project levels.

OFFICE AND TRAVEL:

Extensive national travel to Federal construction projects and business development opportunities anticipated to average three to five days per month over the course of a year.
