Position Summary -
Primary responsibility is to design, program, and commission controls systems and associated equipment to meet customer’s project requirements and specifications.
Including, the support and maintenance of existing control systems or retrofits.
Qualifications -
Education:
- 4 year MS degree( EE, Control Systems, STEM or relevant field ) + 3 years of relevant experience in controls system design.
- 2 year AAS degrees ( Automation, Controls, Robotics or relevant field ) + 5 years of relevant experience in controls system design.
- MS Office / Word processing / Spreadsheets / E-mail / Calendars / Scheduling
- Programming experience
- PLC Ladder Logic, Function Block, Structured Text
- SCADA
- Alarm notifications - Win 911, Topview, Se Qent
- Networks
- Database and reporting
- Communication protocol converters and radios
- Project management software ( preferred )
- Microsoft Project
- Procore
- CAD / 3D Modeling / ACADE ( preferred )
- System one lines
- Layouts, Schematics and Wiring diagrams
Experience
· Industrial controls systems and equipment
· Problem solving and troubleshooting
· Machine assembly and commissioning (preferred)
· Railroad fueling and industrial water (preferred)

Job Responsibilities -
· Collaborate with Engineering and Project Manager to determine project requirements.
· Create control narratives to describe the sequence of operations.
· Coordinate selection of components, data sheets and quotations to meet project requirements.
· Coordinate networking communications, protocols, create memory maps and/or project-specific control narrative per specification and standard operating procedures.
· Create electrical schematics, P&’s, schedules and Bill of Materials. (preferred)
· Design control panels to meet NEMA ratings, (c)
UL, CSA listing requirements, and Hazardous Environment design considerations. (preferred)
Production and Commissioning Phase:
· Coordinate with PM, and/or customer to define schedule.
· Ladder logic and function block programming capable of meeting operational requirements.
· Program using the following PLC programming software:
oAB Rockwell Logix 500/5000
oGE Proficy / PAC Machine Edition
· Schneider Modicon/Automation Direct / Horner or others
· Program using the following HMI programming software:
oOthers per project, specification or standard
· Create operational manuals, documentation, and programming intent, for both internal employees and customers to improve user experience.
· Verify programs according to test plan or procedures for factory and site acceptance.
· Troubleshoot and correct operation as required.
Field Support:
· Travel to jobsite for start-up assistance; up to 10% travel required.
· Troubleshoot programs in the field, remotely, through customer, or with service technicians.
· Work with personnel to make CAD drawing adjustments, as builts or program changes.
· Configure equipment on-site and remotely.
Other Job Requirements:
· Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
· Works well with team and external customers.
· Comfortable communicating with customers regarding the operation and electrical integrity of a system.
· Thorough knowledge of UL508 and CSA panel specifications.
· Knowledge of NFPA 70 National Electric Code, and NFPA 79 Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery.
· Experience using Autocad Electrical or other CAD schematic design tool.
