Position Overview
The Associate Technical Specialist supports laboratory and application-based technical service activities within H.B. Fuller’s Advanced Building Solutions business, with a primary focus on glass applications. The role performs supervised testing, sample preparation, and customer‑support activities while developing practical skills in materials, adhesives, and processes. The position provides hands‑on experience with clear ownership of assigned technical requests and opportunities for continued technical growth.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Support construction and testing of insulating glass units (IGUs) and laminated assemblies
- Perform physical property and compatibility testing per defined procedures
- Execute application and laboratory test plans to support characterization and root cause analysis
- Prepare, ship, and track samples, IGUs, and supplies to and from the Center of Excellence
- Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and product inventory
- Document test results and communicate updates to internal and external stakeholders
- Support customer trials, demonstrations, and onsite visits
- Assist with 5S, safety, equipment maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives
Education:
- High school diploma with 4+ years of relevant experience, or an associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Hands‑on laboratory, manufacturing, or technical support experience
- Ability to follow written procedures and accurately document results
- Clear verbal and written communication with technical and non‑technical partners
- Authorization to work in the country of employment
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
- 1+ year supporting adhesives, glass, composites, or industrial substrates
- Experience with physical property testing and laboratory equipment
- Exposure to customer‑facing technical or application support work
The salary for this role is $65,000-$84,000.
