Job Summary
The primary function of the Nondestructive testing (NDT) Manager is to lead the planning, execution, and management of all NDT activities for various infrastructure projects, ensuring that safety and quality standards are consistently met. As an NDT Manager, you will work closely with engineers, project managers, and NDT technicians to assess the structural integrity of materials and structures using a wide range of non-destructive methods.
You will also be responsible for interpreting test results, preparing detailed reports, and advising on necessary actions to mitigate risks.
Additionally, they oversee a team of NDT technicians, manage testing schedules, analyze data, and report on structural integrity findings.

- Manage and oversee NDT operations, ensuring all testing is conducted to the highest standards and complies with industry regulations.
- Lead a team of NDT technicians, providing guidance, training, and ensuring that all safety protocols are followed.
- Conduct and supervise NDT methods including ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), radiographic testing (RT), and other relevant techniques.
- Interpret NDT results, providing detailed analysis and reporting to project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with project managers and civil engineers to integrate NDT findings into broader project planning and execution.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of NDT equipment.
- Stay up to date with technological advancements in NDT methods and implement best practices.
- Manage project timelines and budgets related to NDT tasks, ensuring timely completion and adherence to project goals.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of industry codes, standards, and safety regulations, ensuring full compliance.
- Prepare technical reports summarizing the results of NDT assessments and providing recommendations for structural improvements or repairs.
- Liaise with external inspectors, clients, and regulatory bodies as needed.
- Current Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) qualification, or ability to meet qualification requirements in accordance with applicable regulatory agencies and licensing requirements, is highly desired.
- Prior experience serving as a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), including administration and oversight of radioactive materials licenses, radiation safety programs, or related regulatory compliance programs, preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent;
Associate's degree in Non-Destructive Testing or related field preferred. - Minimum of five years of progressive experience in NDT, including welding inspection and management.
- Certifications required:
- Level II in RT, MT, PT, and UT methods.
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
- ICC Steel Certification.
- IRRSP or equivalent for gamma radiography.
- Familiarity with regulations such as 10 CFR Part 34.43 for radiography.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record; some roles may require personal vehicle use for company business.
- Strong leadership abilities with experience in training and supervising NDT technicians.
- Excellent client communication and project management skills.
- Proficiency in developing and maintaining QA/QC programs.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance in safety-sensitive environments.
- Occasionally move 50-70 pounds.
- Stand up to 80% of the day (often on uneven surfaces).
- Move up to 80% of the day, with frequent climbing, bending and stooping.
- Occasionally work in confined spaces.
- Occasionally work at elevations up to 200 feet, using proper safety equipment as necessary.
Base compensation is expected to be in the range of $100,000 and $140,000 annually based on skill set and experience. The selected candidate must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Work Environment
This job primarily operates in outdoor environments with occasional work in confined spaces and elevated positions (up to 200 feet). Physical demands include lifting up to 70 pounds and standing/moving for extended periods.
