Overview
MSA is hiring a Senior Engineering Technician to join our Public Works team in St. Paul. The Public Works team supports a wide variety of civil engineering projects, including roads, parks/trails, water/sewer, utilities, and more. This is primarily a field-based role with duties in construction observation, contractor coordination, and design.
Responsibilities- Perform construction observation and field inspection services for public works and municipal infrastructure projects, including streets, utilities, stormwater, and site improvements.
- Coordinate daily with contractors, municipal staff, utility representatives, and project managers to support successful project delivery in the field.
- Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to verify construction activities comply with project requirements and applicable standards.
- Document project progress through daily reports, photographs, quantity tracking, and field measurements.
- Assist with construction staking verification, material testing coordination, and resolution of field issues during construction.
- Mentor junior technicians and provide technical guidance on construction inspection procedures and documentation standards.
- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology (or related field) required
- Valid driver's license required
- 5+ years of related experience required
- This position requires you to have authorization to work in the United States for any employer. We will not provide sponsorship for this position
- Compensation Range: $29–$47 per hour (commensurate with experience)
