Job Description
The purpose of the Senior Engineer role is to apply conceptual engineering techniques to design mechanical systems from the ground up, ensuring innovative solutions that meet customer needs while increasing efficiency and cost effectiveness in construction and operation.
Responsibilities- Lead the design of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and supplemental systems for a variety of building types.
- Develop conceptual, schematic, and design development work; prepare construction documentation and oversee construction execution.
- Collaborate with the Harris Design Studio team on overall design concepts and presentation strategies.
- Provide design and documentation support during completion and execution of design concepts.
- Work with estimating and construction groups to supply accurate design information.
- Support Digital Design and BIM efforts to prepare detailed drawings and documentation.
- Prepare specifications, calculations, and equipment selections for sizing mechanical and plumbing systems.
- Conduct energy and water use analyses, and perform life‑cycle cost comparisons for alternative system designs.
- Interface with project team members, clients, and vendors to facilitate communication and coordinate design solutions.
- Assist senior engineers in recommending system performance levels based on customer needs and preferences.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience designing HVAC systems of varying sizes and complexity.
- Proficiency in designing heating, hot water, steam, chilled water, VRF, DX, VAV, radiant, fan‑coil, and ventilation systems.
- Experience with supply and return air, piping, and load calculations.
- Knowledge of code‑compliant plumbing and mechanical system design, including natural gas and other combustible systems.
- Familiarity with LEED, Living Building Challenge, and other building rating systems.
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate low‑water, energy‑efficient, and sustainable design options.
- Strong analytical, communication, and collaborative skills.

Pay Range: $71,078.81 – $ (actual offer varies by experience, skills, and location).
