Job SummaryThe Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.
This position is located at the Materials Lab in Maplewood, MN and may have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.
This position provides MnDOT with the strategic vision, engineering leadership, and technical expertise needed to sustain a comprehensive statewide Pavement Preservation and Preventive Maintenance Program. The individual in this role works both independently and collaboratively across the state, building strong partnerships with MnDOT district staff, city and county agencies, and consulting firms. A key focus of the position is sharing technical guidance, advancing best practices, and supporting the consistent implementation of pavement preservation policies and techniques.
Minimum QualificationsLicensure as a professional engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID). If obtaining licensure through comity (reciprocity), a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.
AND
Three years of experience as an Engineer Senior or equivalent that demonstrates:
- Experience with pavement preservation and preventive maintenance activities.
- Experience in geotechnical engineering, soils engineering, pavement design, and specification development.
- Experience with evaluating pavement condition through field inspection and the use of pavement management data and tools.
- Experience with pavement management systems.
- Experience analyzing pavement condition data, performance models, and deterioration trends.
- Experience with pavement preservation techniques, materials, and treatment selection.
