Job Summary
SEH is seeking an experienced Electrical Group Leader to lead and grow our Electrical Engineering discipline within the Mechanical/Electrical Practice in Minnesota. The role combines technical leadership, team development, and business growth, overseeing a team of approximately ten engineers and designers supporting municipal and industrial projects.
Role MissionLead, grow, and elevate SEH’s Electrical Engineering team by developing high‑performing engineers, supporting profitable project delivery, expanding client relationships, and driving discipline growth across water, wastewater, and industrial markets while maintaining technical involvement.
What You Will Own- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers and designers.
- Conduct performance development conversations and succession planning.
- Recruit and hire strategically to support growth.
- Align team workload with project demand and future pipeline.
- Build a culture of accountability and technical excellence.
- Success Indicators:
High engagement and retention, clear succession depth, high utilization, and successful onboarding of new hires.
- Serve as Electrical Discipline Lead on complex municipal and industrial projects.
- Provide technical oversight on power distribution, controls, arc flash, lighting, backup systems.
- Ensure quality assurance processes are followed.
- Support project managers in delivering projects on scope, schedule, and budget.
- Success Indicators:
Minimal rework and QA issues, strong client technical feedback, effective coordination with PMs, projects delivered within margin targets.
- Support proposal development and interviews.
- Develop relationships with municipal and industrial clients.
- Partner with internal disciplines (Water/Wastewater, Architecture, Civil). Identify cross‑selling opportunities.
- Contribute to sales goals and PM‑managed revenue targets.
- Success Indicators:
Increased backlog for Electrical discipline, repeat client engagements, successful proposal support, expansion into adjacent markets.
- Serve as a trusted internal partner to Water/Wastewater teams, Architectural teams, and Civil project teams.
- Ensure Electrical services are integrated early in project planning.
- Support PMs with staffing forecasts and technical risk mitigation.
- Success Indicators:
Strong internal satisfaction from practice leaders, reduced late‑stage electrical design conflicts, predictable staffing planning.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering.
- Experience leading electrical scope on complex projects.
- Comfortable mentoring engineers and holding them accountable.
- Growth‑oriented and energized by building teams.
- Strong communicator with internal teams and external clients.
- Business‑aware (understanding utilization, scope, and margin).
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
- 10+ years of experience in industrial or municipal system design.
- Water and wastewater facility design.
- SKM proficiency (short circuit, load flow, arc flash).
- Proposal development experience.
- Experience mentoring early‑career engineers.
- Strong client engagement skills.
- Electrical group utilization aligned with target range.
- Growth in backlog and proposal participation.
- Successful hiring of strategic additions to the team.
- Internal client satisfaction feedback.
- Strong QA/QC performance.
- Measurable contribution to PM‑managed revenue.
The Electrical Group is a core technical pillar of SEH’s Mechanical/Electrical Practice. This leader will stabilize and elevate team performance, drive growth across markets, and strengthen SEH’s competitive position in municipal and industrial sectors.
