OVERVIEW
The Civil Engineering department in the College of Engineering invites applications for a full-time Clinical Faculty position with a focus towards Water Resources Engineering to begin in or before the Fall semester 2027. This is a teaching-focused appointment for an educator and practitioner who is passionate about preparing the next generation of civil engineers through high-quality instruction, mentorship, and engagement with professional practice.
We seek candidates with expertise and professional experience in water resources engineering and a demonstrated commitment to student success. The successful candidate will primarily support the undergraduate curriculum in water resources, fluid mechanics, and related areas of civil engineering. Candidates who can also contribute to the department’s senior capstone design course and curricular efforts related to professionalism, communication, ethics, and engineering practice are especially encouraged to apply.
Our program places exceptional value on teaching excellence. We are looking for a faculty member who can connect with students, create engaging learning environments, and effectively bridge engineering theory and professional practice. The ability to inspire, mentor, and support undergraduate students is a central expectation of this position.
The clinical faculty will advise and mentor students at all undergraduate levels toward the successful completion of their degree and help them develop career readiness. The clinical faculty will participate in departmental meetings, faculty development programs, and professional organizations in civil engineering to stay connected with industry advancements.

This is an exciting time for growth in the Civil Engineering program mas. In spring 2024, we moved into the new $110M Schoenecker Center with state-of-the-art engineering labs, including a water and environmental engineering lab, a construction materials lab, structures high bay, and soil mechanics lab. As a student-focused institution with a strong hands‑on curriculum, we emphasize undergraduate education that provides technical excellence with a significant emphasis on real world applications.

The salary range for this position is $70,500 to $105,000.
The University of Saint Thomas has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the university may pay for position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
