Mission Hires is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer (Direct Hire, Onsite) for an established engineering consulting firm. Based in Cincinnati, OH;
Lexington, KY;
Louisville, KY; or St. Paul, MN, this role focuses on producing electrical construction documents, Revit modeling, and multidisciplinary coordination for industrial and utility projects. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of electrical drafting/design experience, deep Revit/AutoCAD proficiency, strong understanding of applicable codes, and a passion for mentoring junior designers.
- Develop detailed electrical construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit
- Design industrial lighting systems (interior, exterior, emergency, exit, and lighting controls)
- Gather, coordinate, and integrate design inputs from clients, architects, contractors, and engineering disciplines
- Create electrical room layouts (transformers, switchboards, switch gear, MCCs, panel boards)
- Size feeders, conduits, and cable tray systems
- Perform 2D/3D electrical modeling and coordinate with other disciplines
- Conduct clash detection and participate in model coordination reviews
- Perform voltage drop and short‑circuit calculations
- Develop schematics and wiring diagrams
- Review shop drawings for dimensions, conduit entries, and equipment layouts
- Conduct site visits to document existing conditions
- Prepare construction observation reports
- Mentor and support junior electrical designers
- Assist with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and estimating design hours
- 10+ years of electrical drafting/design experience in consulting engineering and/or construction environments
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit
- Demonstrated experience with electrical equipment modeling and multidisciplinary coordination in Revit
- Ability to create, manage, and maintain 3D electrical models
- Understanding of architectural, civil, structural, and electrical construction documents
- Working knowledge of codes and standards: NEC, NFPA, IBC, IFC, Energy Code, Life Safety Code
- Knowledge of electrical design fundamentals (grounding, overcurrent protection, electrical distribution systems)
- Familiarity with QA/QC and document control procedures
- Authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future sponsorship
- Preferred:
Associate degree or diploma in Drafting, Design, or related field - Preferred:
Experience with SKM Power Tools, ETAP, Easy Power, or similar power system modeling software
