This position is located at district headquarters in Roseville and may have the flexibility to work in the office or a hybrid schedule that includes in office and teleworking time. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.

This position supervises up to four engineering and paraprofessional staff in the MnDOT Metro Design Unit and serves as the project manager for all assigned projects. It provides technical leadership for the Metro District in design and project delivery, offering management direction, general supervision, and engineering guidance for producing layouts, final plans, and supporting documents. The position signs engineering documents as the engineer of record, including preliminary layouts, final plans, and specifications.

It also ensures that all assigned projects are delivered on schedule and within budget and is responsible for developing and managing consultant contracts.

** Minimum Qualifications*
* + Licensure as a professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through Comity (Reciprocity). (If obtaining licensure through Comity, a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.)

+ Three years of post-registration engineering experience at the Engineer Senior level or equivalent performing scoping and designing of highway transportation projects.

+ Experience leading technical staff in the development and delivery of road-construction layouts, final plans, specifications, and cost estimates.

If advanced to the finalist pool, in addition to the preceding minimum qualifications, you will be assessed on the following criteria during a job interview:

+ Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing sufficiently to give direction, facilitate meetings, make public presentations, and answer project specific and policy questions and to write letters and other documentation.

+ Human relations skills sufficient to work cooperatively with the public and other affected interests.
