Mechanical Design Engineer – Automation
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an automation engineering team focused on the design, development, and testing of advanced equipment and automated systems. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys taking mechanical concepts from the early design stage through production and testing.
Responsibilities:- Develop mechanical concepts and detailed designs for automated equipment and electromechanical systems.
- Create 3D models, assemblies, drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
- Perform tolerance analysis, design calculations, and other engineering analysis as needed.
- Participate in design reviews and collaborate with senior engineers on complex automation projects.
- Ensure designs meet customer requirements, product specifications, regulatory requirements, and applicable industry standards.
- Work closely with manufacturing and operations to improve designs for quality, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Troubleshoot mechanical design and quality issues and develop solutions.
- Support prototype builds, testing, and design validation.
- Assist with research and development initiatives to improve products, processes, and engineering methods.
- Respond to customer requests and provide technical solutions related to assigned projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 2+ years of mechanical design experience.
- Experience with 3D CAD and mechanical drafting.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- 4+ years of mechanical design experience.
- Solid Works experience.
- Experience designing electromechanical assemblies or automated equipment.
- Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
- Experience with ERP or manufacturing systems.
- Experience taking designs from concept through prototype, testing, and production.
