Role Description

The EIT Civil Engineer will support civil engineering and surveying projects from initial data collection through design and construction documentation. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with site layout, grading, drainage, and utility design, as well as preparing plans, reports, and calculations under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer. The role involves coordinating with field survey crews, reviewing survey data, and helping translate field information into engineering drawings and models.

The EIT Civil Engineer will also assist with permit applications, technical specifications, and project correspondence, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal standards. This is a full-time, on-site role based in St Paul, MN, requiring regular in-person collaboration with engineers, surveyors, and project stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • Solid foundation in civil engineering principles, including site design, grading, drainage, and utility layout.
  • Proficiency with engineering and drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar) and basic GIS tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical skills for performing calculations and reviewing technical data.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, plans, and client or agency correspondence.
  • Ability to collaborate with survey crews and office staff, and to interpret field data for engineering design.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field; EIT certification (or ability to obtain in a reasonable timeframe) preferred.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a project-based environment.
  • Willingness to occasionally support field work, follow safety procedures, and work on-site in varying weather conditions.
