Lean Engineer I Or II

BLUvera, Mortenson's vertically integrated manufacturing and fabrication business, is seeking a Lean Engineer I or II to help drive continuous improvement across a growing manufacturing operation. This hands-on role will partner with project leadership and frontline teams to improve safety, eliminate waste, streamline processes, and optimize workflow.

The Lean Engineer will facilitate Kaizen events, implement 5S and standardized work, improve production flow, and help teams sustain measurable improvements. As BLUvera continues to scale and introduce new products, this role will have the opportunity to help build efficient, repeatable processes and a culture of continuous improvement from the ground up.

Responsibilities include partnering closely with project leadership and craft workforce to establish trust and gain buy-in for lean approaches, providing regular feedback to project leadership and the group lean leader on lean approaches and cross-project sharing, effectively working and building relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels, supporting continuous improvement efforts onsite, coordinating and facilitating improvement events with project team and experts, reinforcing continuous improvement principles and ensuring ongoing application of tools, supporting forepersons in observing work, assessing adherence to standardized work, and addressing abnormalities, encouraging crews to brainstorm and implement ongoing improvements, supporting project team, field leaders, and trade partners in applying 5S practices, communicating 5S standards during onboarding of new workforce and trade partners, creating plans and resources to achieve 5S standards, supporting flow and work management onsite, participating in flow schedule development for work phases, supporting superintendents and forepersons in daily planning, work management, and learning approaches, promoting one-piece flow for self-perform work and reducing batching practices, and all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Engineering, or related degree OR equivalent combination of education and technical/field experience demonstrated over multiple years of related work experience, internship experience in construction or manufacturing, prior experience on construction job sites preferred, current driver's license, solid understanding of continuous improvement principles and their application, excellent reliability and follow-through on commitments, effective trainer and facilitator, ability to influence through relationship building, proactive self-starter with a growth mindset, strong sense of curiosity and optimism, effectively working with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels, active listening and effective communication skills, open to diverse input and feedback, and ability to travel up to 75%.

The base pay range for this role is $78,800 - $98,500. Actual range is higher for the following office locations:
Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
