Energy Supply Capital Engineering Intern

• Support Energy Supply Base Capital Engineering Projects at coal-fired or RDF generating plants in Minnesota or Wisconsin
• Assist project engineers at power plants with project management and execution
• Learn how power plants generate electricity and the systems/subsystems supporting major equipment
• Read and use piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), electrical schematics, and general plant drawings in support of projects
• Use project planning and project budgeting systems
• Present to senior leadership
• Collaborate with key internal stakeholders
• Contribute to department objectives and goals
• Apply academic learning through hands‑on training and network with interns across the Energy Supply organization

• Current student, Sophomore or higher
• Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university
• Pursuing a degree in electrical, mechanical, civil, or chemical engineering or related program
• Able to commute to any one of the plants in Becker, MN;
  Mankato, MN;
  Red Wing, MN;
  LaCrosse, WI; or Ashland, WI
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)
• Able to work part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week)
• Able to commute to the designated work location in-person, per the hybrid work policy
• 3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher preferred
• Completed 2 years of undergraduate coursework, including Engineering classes preferred
• Previous Engineering internship experience preferred

Demonstrates strong foundational knowledge in electrical, mechanical, civil, or chemical engineering, with the ability to apply academic learning in practical settings. Proficient in reading Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and collaborating with stakeholders to support project management in energy supply.
