Founded in 1882, Schubert Club continues to pursue its mission to create inspiring musical experiences that contribute to the cultural vibrancy of the Twin Cities community. Schubert Club pursues its mission through concert presenting, music education, student scholarships, and a Music Museum located in Landmark Center, Downtown St. Paul.
POSITION SUMMARYSchubert Club’s Music Museum Guides are welcoming and knowledgeable individuals who bring each visitor’s experience to life through engaging interpersonal skills and a passion for music. This part-time position plays an important role in hosting visitors as they explore interactive music-making exhibits, historic keyboard instruments, and original manuscripts.
Music Museum Guides help visitors connect with the Museum’s collections and exhibits by encouraging exploration, sharing knowledge, and creating a welcoming and memorable experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Interact and meet with people from a variety of ages and backgrounds, listening and responding to visitor questions and interests, providing accurate information in a pleasant, courteous, well-informed manner.
- Cooperate with Senior Guides to perform routine gallery maintenance tasks and be watchful to protect the instruments and other displays from damage.
- Participate in hosting special tours or events as directed by Programs Manager or Associate.
- An extensive knowledge of music history and repertoire is not required, but a Music Museum Guide should have a working knowledge of piano music and a desire to learn.
- Some weekend hours are required. Regular hours are listed below. Additional work hours may be available when there are scheduled tours and special events.

Wednesdays 12:00-4:00
Thursdays 12:00-4:00
Fridays 12:00-4:00
Saturdays 10:00-2:00
Sundays 12:00-4:00
- Interacts comfortably with groups of people that may include children, elderly adults, and individuals with disabilities.
- Works independently in order to fulfill the core responsibilities listed above.
- Receives supervisory feedback and cooperates with other Schubert Club employees.
- Consistently honors time commitments for any scheduled assignments, including regular Music Museum hours and special events or programs.
- Learns new material rapidly, and willingly spends the time and effort necessary to study the Schubert Club Music Museum collection.
- Enthusiastic and flexible.
- Trustworthy, honest, and dependable.
- Minimum of High School diploma or GED required.
- At least 6 months successful experience in customer/visitor services required.
- Physically able to lead tours throughout the Museum.
- Ability to physically lift and move exhibit items up to 30 lbs.
- Previous experience working in a museum or a similar cultural organization preferred.
- Basic piano keyboard proficiency preferred.
- Availability for weekend hours (scheduled in advance).
- All employees are required to pass a background check.
- All work is performed on-site in Landmark Center, Downtown St Paul
