:
The Collections Manager manages the Mortgage, Commercial & Loss Mitigation area of the Collections Department to ensure the maintenance of a strong loan portfolio through minimizing financial loss resulting from delinquent accounts.
Work Type:Full-time, on-site at our Empire office in St. Paul, MN
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Responsible for all collection activities for the Credit Union
- Responds to all member and employee questions regarding collection accounts/items
- Works to collect on all delinquent loans and accounts by utilizing all appropriate delivery methods
- Responsible for collection software daily loading and ongoing maintenance needs
- Ask questions to gain an understanding of financial situations
- Works with members to offer suggestions and/or future steps to remedy collection items
- Obtains payment agreements for all past due loans and accounts and follows up
- Oversees the full loss mitigation processes and pipeline (modifications, repayment plans, forbearances short sales, foreclosures, deed-in-lieu, and OREOs)
- Ensures compliance to federal, state and investor (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, etc.) requirements and process timelines
- Assist all other Collections Managers with tasks and oversight as needed or requested
- Prepares delinquent accounts and loans for further action
- Manages and completes charge off reporting and execution of charge offs on core
- Assists in preparing delinquency reports and ensuring accuracy of information
- Handles the resolution of all credit reporting disputes
- Responsible for accurate credit reporting and supports other departments with maintenance of FCRA compliance
- Keeps abreast of all related federal and state laws, compliance requirements, bankruptcy laws, etc
- Evaluates present collection methods and offers suggestions to improve efficiencies
- Assists in review of all settlement requests with VP of Enterprise Risk Management
- Assists management in formulating and implementing collection programs and procedures
- Organizes and/or participates in facilitating department meetings
- Hires, onboards, develops, and manages performance of the Mortgage, Commercial & Loss Mitigation Collections Department staff
- Maintains timely and regular attendance to meet member and employee needs
- Manages complex or difficult employee situations and responds effectively under pressure
- Easily adapts to change, embraces new ideas and encourages others to do the same
- Prioritizes and manages multiple demands

- Adheres to all current and/or future policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Assumes all duties as assigned by management
- Works with VP of Enterprise Risk Management and HR to resolve employee issues
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control

- Perform other duties as assigned to support effective department operation
- Minimum High School degree or equivalent.
- AAS Degree or higher (highly preferred but not required)
- Minimum 4-5 years progressive collections and collections management experience
- Advanced knowledge of collection best practices, procedures, regulations, servicing, defaulting and workout options
- Strong ability to analyze members financials, identify root causes and develop effective solutions that assist members and protect Blaze
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Well organized
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office a must
- Able to perform basic mathematical calculations
Ability to proactively respond to members/employees to problem solve based on guidelines; written communications are based on templates but can be modified.
