THE ROLE Finance & Accounting Operations
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including purchase requests and expense documentation
- Set up vendors and accounting codes for grants, income, and expenses; ensure accurate coding across programs
- Prepare invoices (including honorariums) and reconcile deposits and open receivables
- Produce monthly A/R aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts
- Support EFT/ACH processing; manage blank check inventory
- Track and reconcile company credit cards and gift cards in accordance with policies
- Design and implement modern accounting workflows, systems, and processes
- Track restricted funds and grant expenditures
- Prepare grant financial reports and monitor compliance
- Manage reporting deadlines and requirements for funders
- Support month‑end and year‑end close processes
- Generate financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis for leadership
- Coordinate with contract accountant by providing records, supporting journal entries and allocations
- Assist with annual budget development and ongoing budget tracking in Quick Books
- Provide financial support to Development, Outreach, and Program teams, including events, contractors, affiliates, and honorariums
- Serve as a financial resource to staff on budgeting, reporting, and financial processes
- Manage contractor and stipend volunteer payments and records
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports to affiliates and fiscal agents
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
- Develop and manage effective internal controls
- Lead annual external audit preparation and coordination with external auditor
- Modernize financial processes, controls, and systems through technology and best practices
- Other duties as assigned
- Work from home up to two (2) days per week pending successful onboarding

Full‑time, exempt (salaried); $78,000 to $101,841 commensurate with qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting required
- At least five (5) years related experience in relevant accounting experience
- Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency with computers, including experience with Quick Books or other accounting software including knowledge of journal entries
- Experience with payroll and timekeeping systems preferred
- High level of self‑initiative, adaptability, and independent problem‑solving skills
