Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our client's team in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This is a long-term contract position that offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to financial operations. The role requires a strong background in accounting and compliance, with a focus on month-end close processes and financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and analyze journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

- Perform account reconciliations to maintain the integrity of financial records.

- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures to ensure timely reporting.

- Collaborate with external auditors by providing required documentation and supporting materials.

- Monitor financial data and trends to assist in strategic decision-making processes.

- Review and improve internal controls to optimize accounting workflows.

- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and conducting variance analyses to support fiscal management.

- Ensure compliance with government accounting regulations and internal policies.

- Utilize Excel for data analysis, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.

- Coordinate with teams to implement process enhancements for operational efficiency.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- Proven experience in month-end close processes and journal entry preparation.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including intermediate functions like VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.

- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial statement preparation.

- Familiarity with government accounting standards and compliance requirements.

- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Effective communication skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

- Experience with Infor LN software is a plus but not required.
