Claims Examiner

• Conduct investigations in a manner consistent with company standards of objectivity, fairness and reasonableness, making decisions on claims within appropriate approval authority. Also, understand investigative procedures and resources to conduct a prompt, objective and complete investigation of the claim facts.
• Maintain working knowledge of policy provisions, exclusions and state regulations to ensure claims are handled accordingly and recommendations are appropriate. This includes working closely with internal legal and medical experts while maintaining awareness of expenses and client performance guarantees.
• Conduct research by email and phone with a variety of people (internal and external partners) to gather information necessary to continue or complete the review of a claim.
• Document and communicate claim status and decision in a clear and organized manner to all interested parties.
• Exercise flexibility and creativity while making logical and high‑quality decisions.

• 2+ years of customer service experience.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively achieve results in both an individual production and team environment.

• Knowledge of Employer Related Life Insurance products.
• Experience with web‑based claim or customer administration systems.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes.
