Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a strategic finance architect and a vital thought partner to the CEO, leadership team, and board. In this role, you will shape the organization’s financial future, building the conditions for innovation, disciplined growth, and long-term resilience. Within an EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) framework, the CFO turns vision into measurable financial traction, using scorecards, Rocks, and strong operating rhythms to help the organization move boldly and sustainably.

As a finance leader in an innovative environment, this role focuses on uncovering how to safely fund strategic ambitions.

As a member of the executive leadership team, this role helps shape enterprise strategy, strengthen governance, and position the organization to meet the future with confidence. The CFO brings foresight, rigor, and imagination to complex decisions, surfacing opportunities early, clearly framing risks, and helping leaders invest resources where they can create the greatest mission return.

Roles & Responsibilities Strategic Financial Leadership
  • Strategic Growth:
    Lead enterprise-wide financial strategy, aligning long-term plans with mission priorities, capital campaigns, lines of credit, and impact investments.
  • Executive Partnership:
    Serve as a strategic co‑pilot to the CEO and Integrator, translating complex data into forward‑looking scenarios and recommendations.
  • EOS Execution:
    Own the finance function’s EOS scorecard, Rocks, and meeting cadence to drive organizational traction and accountability.
Accounting, Reporting & Compliance
  • Financial Operations:
    Oversee accounting, monthly close, internal controls, and reporting to deliver accurate, timely, and decision‑ready data.
  • Compliance & Trust:
    Ensure strict compliance with GAAP, nonprofit fund accounting, IRS Form 990, and grant and donor restrictions.
  • Audit & Governance:
    Partner with senior finance leadership to lead the annual audit, collaborating with external auditors and the Board/Finance Committee.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance Analysis
  • Collaborative Budgeting:
    Lead annual budgeting and forecasting cycles in partnership with department heads to build shared financial discipline.
  • Hybrid Revenue Modeling:
    Develop agile financial models tailored to a mix of philanthropy, restricted grants, social enterprise, and earned revenue.
  • Scenario Planning:
    Monitor variances and build predictive scenario models to evaluate investments, staffing, and shifting revenue conditions.
Treasury, Risk, Property & Infrastructure Stewardship
  • Treasury & Cash:
    Manage cash flow, liquidity, reserves, investments, and banking relationships to secure current and future operations.
  • Risk Management:

    Mitigate financial, legal, and operational risk through robust policies, insurance oversight, and contract reviews.
  • Property & Tech Oversight:
    Provide executive oversight for real estate holdings and information systems to ensure security, efficiency, and scalability.
Financial Systems & Cross-Functional Decision Support
  • Systems Optimization:
    Continuously improve financial systems, dashboards, and workflows for better data accessibility and user experience.
  • Cross-Functional Integration:
    Partner across departments to connect budgets, staffing plans, and fundraising assumptions into a cohesive financial strategy.
Team Leadership & Culture
  • People Development:
    Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing finance team focused on technical excellence and a service-oriented mindset.
  • Culture Carrier:
    Model EOS disciplines and organizational values to foster a culture of trust, direct communication, and continuous learning.
Equity & Community Integration
  • Equity-Centered Finance:
    Apply an equity lens to resource allocation, budgeting, and policies to reduce barriers and support community-led initiatives.
