This established and growing organization is seeking a Project FP&A Analyst to support complex project financials, improve reporting processes, and partner cross-functionally with operations and leadership. The Project Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst will oversee the financial lifecycle of projects from setup through closeout while partnering closely with project teams, operations, and leadership. This role will focus on budgeting, forecasting, project accounting, reporting, financial controls, and process improvements within a project-based environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, ERP systems experience, and the ability to provide actionable financial insights that support operational and strategic decision-making.

This hybrid position is located in Saint Paul, MN. On-site work is required three days per week.

Salary Range: $90K - $125K/yr. base salary.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Manage the full financial lifecycle of projects from setup through closeout within the ERP system
  • Establish projects in alignment with contracts, budgets, revenue recognition rules, and project structures
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial models
  • Track project costs, expenditures, commitments, and analyze variances against approved budgets
  • Support long-term financial planning and expenditure forecasting initiatives
  • Perform financial activities related to Joint Venture partnerships, including reporting and invoicing
  • Prepare and analyze Work in Progress (WIP) reporting
  • Record and reconcile project-related financial transactions
  • Generate financial reports, KPI dashboards, cost reports, and progress billing reports for stakeholders
  • Ensure accurate accruals, cost allocations, and revenue recognition in accordance with company policies
  • Partner with project managers to provide financial insights and support operational decision-making
  • Implement and monitor internal controls related to project financials and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements; exposure to CAS, DCAA, and FAR preferred
  • Participate in audits and reviews to identify discrepancies, inefficiencies, and process improvement opportunities
  • Support risk analysis, scenario planning, and cost-benefit evaluations for projects and strategic initiatives
  • Maintain and improve ERP, reporting, dashboard, and automated financial reporting tools
  • Serve as a liaison between finance, operations, project teams, and other business units
Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in project accounting, financial analysis, or systems-focused finance roles
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles and experience working within regulated environments
  • Experience with ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and data analysis
  • Experience building dashboards, automated reporting, or ERP enhancements
  • Strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, variance analysis, and WIP reporting
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable business insights
  • Experience improving financial processes and strengthening internal controls
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • High attention to detail, organization, and integrity when handling confidential information
  • Ability to thrive in a project-based, fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Knowledge of CAS, DCAA, and FAR regulations
