About the RoleThe Director of Finance & Medical Billing leads financial operations and medical billing processes within the Community Mental Health & Wellness division. This role ensures accurate and timely billing, revenue cycle management, and compliance with healthcare regulations and financial policies. The director will lead a team of finance and billing professionals, drive process improvements, and implement best practices to optimize financial performance.
They will collaborate with clinical, administrative, Finance and IT teams to align financial strategies with organizational goals, manage budgets, forecasting, revenue capture and cost control activities, financial planning, analysis and reporting. They will also develop proactive financial strategies that support sustainable growth and mitigate risk, and mentor the billing team to optimize operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Oversee financial operations and medical billing processes within the division.
- Ensure accurate and timely billing and effective revenue cycle management.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational financial policies.
- Lead and develop a team of finance and billing professionals; drive process improvements and best practices.
- Collaborate with clinical, administrative, Finance and IT teams to align financial strategies with organizational goals.
- Manage budgets, forecasting, revenue capture, and cost control activities.
- Provide financial planning, analysis, and reporting to support decision-making.
- Develop proactive financial strategies to support sustainable growth and mitigate risk.
- Mentor the billing team and develop staff and systems to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- BA or BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required; MA degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in healthcare finance and medical billing management, with at least 5 years of supervision experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Certified Professional Biller (CPB) certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical billing systems, healthcare reimbursement methodologies, and regulatory requirements such as HIPAA and CMS guidelines.
- Proven experience managing teams and leading financial operations within a healthcare setting.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and advanced billing software.
- Familiarity with Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance billing processes.
- Demonstrated success in implementing financial systems improvements and revenue cycle optimization.
