* At the State of Minnesota, employees play a critical role in developing policies, providing essential services, and working to improve the well-being and quality of life for all Minnesotans. The State of Minnesota is committed to equity and inclusion, and invests in employees by providing benefits, support resources, and training and development opportunities.
The Minnesota Department of Corrections' Office of Financial Management is rebuilding how financial work gets done. We are replacing disconnected tools, manual processes, spreadsheets, email-based approvals, and inconsistent data practices with systems that are easier to use, more reliable, and better able to support sound financial management.
We are seeking a
** Financial Systems Analyst
** who can connect finance, business operations, data, and technology, and who is energized by the opportunity to build new solutions.
This is not a passive systems-support position. You will be expected to investigate problems, clarify unclear business needs, develop practical solutions, coordinate implementation, test results, and keep projects moving through completion.
Finally, this is a new role in a rapidly evolving and highly collaborative environment. We are looking for someone who is energized by building new approaches, solving problems, and helping shape work that is still taking form. Success will require initiative, follow-through, adaptability, and a willingness to move work from idea to completion.
The right candidate will be thoughtful, dependable, comfortable with ambiguity, and committed to producing high-quality results that make a meaningful difference.
As the Financial Systems Analyst, you will help design the digital infrastructure behind the Department of Corrections' financial operations.
This position exists to lead the analysis, integration, automation, and maintenance of all financial and data-management systems within the Office of Financial Management, ensuring that financial operations are efficient, auditable, and responsive to business needs. This position bridges finance, operations, and technology - transforming business requirements into practical, secure, and sustainable systems and data solutions that support agency decision-making and fiscal integrity.
You will work with accountants, budget analysts, procurement professionals, facility business offices, executives, Minnesota IT (MNIT), vendors, developers, and other members of the Finance Transformation Office. The quality of these relationships will directly affect the department's ability to modernize its financial systems and improve financial services.
This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and does not formally supervise employees. It will, however, provide functional direction to project teams, users, testers, vendors, and technical partners during system-development and implementation efforts.
