Role DescriptionThe Chief Lending Officer (CLO) leads the bank's overall lending strategy, credit administration, loan production, and portfolio management functions.
Above all else, this role is responsible for ensuring the bank's lending activities generate strong risk-adjusted returns while maintaining exceptional asset quality, supporting core deposit growth, and advancing the bank's strategic objectives
.
The CLO directly supervises the Chief Credit Officer and all Business Bankers and serves as a key member of the bank's Leadership Team. In addition to leading the lending function, the CLO is expected to actively develop commercial lending and deposit relationships, contributing directly to production, fee income, and relationship growth. This role balances profitability, portfolio quality, and risk management while ensuring all lending activities comply with bank policy, regulatory requirements, and sound banking practices.
The CLO maintains a portfolio of key client relationships and a primary office within the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area.
- · Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, or a related field; MBA, Graduate School of Banking, or equivalent advanced education or related experience preferred.
- · 10+ years of progressive commercial lending and banking leadership experience, including management of lending teams and commercial loan portfolios.
- · Demonstrated success in business development, loan origination, deposit gathering, relationship management, credit analysis, underwriting, and portfolio management.
- · Strong working knowledge of commercial lending regulations, credit administration, fair lending requirements, and safety and soundness standards.
- · Experience managing credit risk, portfolio concentrations, criticized assets, and loan workout strategies.
- · Excellent leadership, strategic planning, communication, and relationship-management skills, with the ability to represent the bank effectively with clients, regulators, shareholders, and the Board of Directors.
