This position will lead and support a statewide alcohol enforcement program through the Office of Traffic Safety grant. The position supports traffic safety by conducting and coordinating alcohol-related investigations, underage alcohol compliance checks, over service complaint investigations, alcohol-related crash follow-up, licensee education, partner coordination, and grant reporting.

* This position requires some nights, weekends and holidays.

The Department of Public Safety is unable to provide sponsorship for work visas. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States at the start of employment. DPS does not participate in E-Verify.

** Minimum Qualifications*
* An associate's degree from an accredited institution with four (4) years full-time experience as a licensed peace officer conducting felony level criminal investigations with a law enforcement agency

-OR
- A four-year degree from an accredited institution, plus one (1) or more years of full-time experience as a licensed peace officer conducting felony level criminal investigations with a law enforcement agency

-OR
- A four-year degree from an accredited institution, plus four (4) or more years as a licensed police officer, plus one (1) or more specialized skillset listed below:

+ Specialized Skillset:

+ Fluency in a foreign language

+ Degree or certification in accounting or other closely related field

+ Degree or certification in a technology related specialty or computer science

+ Demonstrated advanced computer skill

+ Juris Doctorate Degree

AND

+ Applicants must be currently licensed as a Peace Officer in the State of Minnesota or be eligible to be licensed as a Peace Officer

+ Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation, physical and psychological examination prior to hire

+ Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds

** Preferred Qualifications*
* +

Experience with alcohol enforcement, underage alcohol compliance checks, over service investigations, or licensed-premises compliance.

+ Grant reporting, and coordination with law enforcement partners.

+ Preferred experience may also include serving as a lead worker, field training officer, program lead, or case lead.

+ Bachelors or advanced degree with a major in accounting, finance, business, or similar.

+ Training and experience as a public speaker.

+ Ability to establish effective, collaborative working relationships and creditability among diverse and varied populations.

+ Experience working on a specialized taskforce.

** Physical Requirements*
* Requires occasionally moving and transporting 50 pound items and frequently moving and transporting objects such as heavy tools and heavy file boxes. This job may require positioning self to move to a significant degree across rough terrain or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
