This position is located at Central Office and may have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule or work in the office. If teleworking, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.

The Emissions Reduction Program Coordinator provides advanced-level professional planning, analysis, consultative, and facilitation work. Specifically, this role is to support the implantation of Minnesota’s emissions reduction legislation as it applies to the integration of transportation and land use. The position will continue the development of methodologies, policies, and processes to advance sustainability and public health with a particular focus on the coordination of land use with transportation investments to reduce emissions.

The Planning Program Coordinator, Transportation leads, coordinates, and conducts complex planning studies and process development.

  • The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience developing or implementing policies, procedures, or guidelines in transportation, land use, environmental planning, or sustainability; and
  • Experience leading planning work to include research and evaluation of information; and
  • Experience coordinating or facilitating groups, committees, or stakeholder teams to build consensus; and
  • Experience delivering reports and/or presentations to internal and external stakeholders.

* NOTE:

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Sociology, or Political Science substitutes for one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with sustainable transportation and land use integrated strategies or an emission reduction program.
  • Experience working with Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), local governments, or state agencies on planning or policy initiatives.
