Job SummaryTelework options for this position are dependent on where the employee lives. The primary work location for this position is 443 Lafayette Road N, St. Paul, MN.
- Employees living within 50 miles of the primary work location will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month.
- Employees that live in Minnesota and are more than 50 miles from the primary work location may be eligible for more than 50% telework with agency approvals.
- Employees may reside outside of the state of Minnesota if they live in a bordering state and are within 50 miles of the primary work location.
This position administers the provisions of the Minnesota State Building Code by performing plan reviews of construction documents submitted for buildings and structures under the jurisdiction of DLI/CCLD as identified in Minnesota Statute 326B. The incumbent evaluates proposed construction, additions, and alterations to determine substantial compliance with the Minnesota State Building Code and referenced standards.
In addition to plan review responsibilities, the position provides technical guidance to municipalities, building officials, design professionals, contractors, and other stakeholders to support consistent statewide application of building code requirements. The incumbent collaborates with unit staff and specialists to ensure effective plan review operations and performs other duties as assigned to support division goals and statutory responsibilities.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications· Three years' experience in performing plan review work to assure compliance with the Minnesota State Building Code, Minnesota Rule 1305 or similar code based on national building codes and standards,
OR
· Three years' experience in designing buildings to assure compliance with the Minnesota State Building Code, Minnesota Rule 1305 or similar code based on national building codes and standards,
OR
· Three years’ experience working as a building inspector, inspecting commercial projects under the direct supervision of a Minnesota Certified Building Official,
OR
· Certification as a Minnesota Building Official.
