* The Minnesota Department of Commerce regulates the insurance industry in Minnesota to protect consumers and to ensure a fair and competitive marketplace. This position completes detailed analyses of various types of insurance products to ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal laws. This position collaborates with Commerce divisions including, insurance, enforcement, market conduct, insurance companies on state and federal laws and regulations and assists the Health Insurance Division regarding the application of statutes and rules under Commerce's jurisdiction and provides technical and interpretative analysis of life, annuity and supplemental health insurance products.
Responsibilities include:
- Review and recommend approval or denial of medical filings.
- Research, analyze, and recommend Agency positions, changes to statutes, new legislation and rules.
- Complete special assignments and respond to informational requests.
** Minimum Qualifications*
* Two (2) years of experience performing analysis, exercising judgment, and relying on knowledge in the insurance industry related to Life, Annuity and Supplement Health policies.
A Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Public Health, Law or related field is equivalent to one (1) year of experience.
An Advanced degree in Public Policy, Public Health, Law, or related field is equivalent to eighteen (18) months of experience.
